SUMMARY:Win A Volvo 2026
DESCRIPTION:International Men’s Health Week will run from Monday 15th until Sunday 21st June \n \n \n \n This year’s theme\, ‘One Step at a Time’\, encourages men and boys to focus on progress\, not perfection. Small steps taken consistently make a meaningful difference over time. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n As part of Men's Health Week\, Croí will be offering free health checks at the following locations: \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n	CountyLocationDateTimeActivity\n\n\n\n\n	MayoBalla Mart13.06.202610 am – 1 pmHealth Checks with Mobile Health Unit\n\n\n	GalwayT O'Higgins\, Galway City15.06.20269 am – 12 pmHealth Checks with Mobile Health Unit\n\n\n	MayoBelmullet Library15.06.202612 pm – 2 pmHealth Checks\n\n\n	GalwayWestside - Galway City Partnership16.06.20265.30 pm – 8 pmHealth Checks\n\n\n	MayoBallina Mart16.06.202610 am – 1 pmHealth Checks with Mobile Health Unit\n\n\n	MayoWestport United16.06.202610 am – 11.30 amHealth Checks\n\n\n	GalwayBallinfoyle - Galway City Partnership17.06.20265.30 pm – 8 pmHealth Checks\n\n\n	GalwayHeadford Solas17.06.20264 pm – 7 pmHealth Checks\n\n\n	RoscommonBoyle FRC17.06.20267 pm – 9 pmHealth Checks\n\n\n	GalwayRenmore Barracks17.06.20264 pm – 7 pmHealth Checks\n\n\n	GalwayBallybane - Galway City Partnership18.06.20265.30 pm – 8 pmHealth Checks\n\n\n	MayoTubbercurry FRC18.06.202610 am – 12 pmHealth Checks\n\n\n	GalwayFORUM Connemara HQ18.06.202610 am – 12 pmHealth Checks\n\n\n	RoscommonCastlerea Mart18.06.202610 am – 1 pmHealth Checks with Mobile Health Unit\n\n\n	MayoClaremorris FRC19.06.202612.30 pm – 3 pmHealth Checks with Mobile Health Unit\n\n\n	RoscommonKiltoom Men's Shed19.06.20267 pm – 9 pmStand\n\n\n	GalwayBallinfoyle Traveller Health19.06.20263 pm – 5 pmHealth Checks\n\n\n	GalwayMaam Cross Mart20.06.20269 am – 12 pmHealth Checks\n\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Why focus on men’s health? While many men are living healthier and longer lives in recent years\, challenges remain. Men continue to experience higher rates of premature mortality compared to females across the leading causes of death: Cardiovascular disease = 148% higherCancer = 17% higherAccidents\, suicides and poisoning = 172% higherDiseases of respiratory system = 32% higherDiseases of the digestive system = 58% higherThese figures highlight why targeted action matters. Men are often more likely to engage in risk-related health behaviours\, including higher levels of smoking\, alcohol and drug use\, and are less likely to engage with primary care and screening services. Social\, economic\, and structural inequalities also play a major role\, with some groups and communities facing particularly significant men’s health challenges. But Men’s Health Week is not just about raising awareness of preventable health problems for males\, it’s about recognising and building on progress. Across Ireland\, men are taking positive steps to improve their health every day in workplaces\, Men’s Sheds\, health centres\, communities\, sports clubs\, families and friendships. By creating supportive environments and practical opportunities\, we can help more men take action\, not only adding years to life\, but life to years. Whether it’s booking a check-up\, getting more active\, talking to someone\, improving your diet\, supporting a friend\, or making an effort to recruit more men to your service\, every positive action counts.
