Frequently Asked Questions
We are a not-for-profit charitable organisation committed to reducing the impact of Heart Disease & Stroke on families, particularly in the west of Ireland.
We design and deliver innovative prevention and recovery programmes for those at highest risk of, or who have developed, heart disease, stroke, obesity or diabetes. We are based at the ‘Heart and Stroke Centre’ in Croí House which is a purpose-built facility dedicated to prevention (education, training, early detection & screening); rehabilitation; health & well-being; patient & family support. In addition, we support the development of services and facilities in hospitals and in the community.
The ‘Heart & Stroke Centre’ is equipped with state-of-the-art conference, meeting and training room facilities. All rooms are equipped with the most up-to-date audio visual technology, which includes tele-conferencing and video conferencing allowing us to link in with universities, hospitals, and training centres around the world. These facilities can be booked for meetings and events and on-site catering is available.
The ‘Heart & Stroke Centre’ also has a large exercise and fitness centre and three self-contained apartments designed so that families in need may stay close to the hospital while a loved one in undergoing surgery or recovering from a stroke or cardiac event.
All of our work is funded entirely through the proceeds of fundraising events and from the generous support of our donors.
