By Anna Casey Donohue
Anna’s family was affected by heart disease in 2007 and they found Croí very supportive, and her experience has inspired her to donate all the profits from her book which she wrote during the first set of restrictions as a result of the global pandemic.
This book is a compilation of Anna’s podcasts from 2019 and 2020, until March, when the local radio closed down. They include some short stories she wrote and Diary entries for this year. It also contains stories from people whom she met and chatted to about how they were coping during the pandemic. The book also features local history and postcards from around the county, when she became a tourist for a day on a daycation and visited all the attractions in our county, photos from Portarlington, (her mother’s hometown), where she spent happy childhood holidays and became a “Townie” for the duration.
This book is light reading and while putting it together, Anna tried to be mindful of all the people who were confined to their homes for one reason or another, whether their home was an institution/apartment/hospital, during Lockdown. “I was lucky to have a home in the Burren with plenty of space all around. I hope you enjoy it and when you don’t feel like reading, you can listen to my podcasts!”
