Introduction
Hello Friend,
Welcome to Week 1 of the Croí Healthy Hearts Programme! We are really looking forward to the next 8 weeks and getting you started on your heart health journey.
Each week, you will receive a video recording and a related resource. We recommend that you take at least 30 minutes each week to view this recording and complete the weekly task.
This week, we will be helping you to understand what is meant by cardiovascular disease, often referred to as CVD. We will discuss what risk factors are and the difference between the risk factors that you can control as well as those that you cannot control. We will show you how to measure your own blood pressure and heart rate at home and explain what the numbers mean. Lastly, we will discuss the blood tests that check your cholesterol and blood glucose levels i.e. diabetes risk.
Attached to this week’s email you will find a record card which you can use to keep track of your numbers. We would strongly advise you to have yearly (or more often if required) checks with your GP so that you can keep an eye on your numbers and be aware of any risks.
*Reminder, please complete the pre-programme questionnaire if you haven’t done so already.
Kind regards,
The Croí Health Team.
