Cyclists of all abilities are gearing up for the return of the Croí Corrib Charity Cycle on Sunday, June 7th, 2026. Now in its 32nd year, the popular fundraising event is set to bring hundreds of cyclists together for a memorable day on the bike, raising vital funds to support Croí’s work in preventing heart disease and stroke.
Participants can choose from two scenic route options suitable for all levels, both beginning and ending in Galway City, starting at the Dangan Sports Pavilion and finishing at the Croí Heart & Stroke Centre:
107km Route – A challenging and rewarding coastal and countryside loop through Moycullen, Spiddal, Inverin, Rossaveal, Maam Cross, Oughterard, and back to Galway City.
50km Route – A shorter, more relaxed route taking in the stunning surroundings of Moycullen and Oughterard before returning to Galway City.
Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist, a leisure rider, part of a club, or taking on a personal challenge with friends or colleagues, the Croí Corrib Charity Cycle offers a unique opportunity to get active while making a real difference. Funds raised will support Croí’s lifesaving prevention programmes, community health checks and support services for those living with or at risk of heart disease and stroke.
Highlighting the importance of the event, Christine Flanagan, Director of Fundraising at Croí, said:
“The Croí Corrib Charity Cycle is more than just an event – it’s a group of people coming together to support a worthy cause. Every year, we are inspired by the incredible support from participants, volunteers and sponsors. We’re calling on cyclists of all abilities to sign-up, enjoy a fantastic day on the bike, and fundraise to help us to continue our vital work.”
Phillip Monks, Chief Marketing Officer at Corrib Oil, added:
“We are delighted to continue our long-standing support of the Croí Corrib Charity Cycle. It’s an event that has grown year on year, both in scale and in its impact, and plays an important role in raising awareness and funds for heart disease and stroke awareness and prevention. With routes to suit all abilities, it’s a great day out and a highlight of the Galway cycling calendar.”
Registration is €60, and all participants will benefit from full route support, including mechanical assistance and insurance, well-stocked food stops, and a warm welcome at the finish line with a post-cycle celebration at the Croí Heart & Stroke Centre. Each cyclist will also receive a limited-edition medal to commemorate this year’s event.
Participants who raise €100 or more will take home a limited-edition Croí Corrib Charity Cycle Jersey and will be entered into a draw to win a voucher worth over €1,000, generously sponsored by West Side Cycles.
Those who raise €250 or more will enjoy all of the above, along with entry into an additional draw for a €2,000 voucher towards a Cycling Experience with Sportive Breaks.
