The ‘Courtyard Apartments’ at Croí house consist of three self-contained ground floor accommodation units, located just a ten-minute walk from Galway University Hospital. Recognising the important role family and loved-ones play in a patient’s recovery, the apartments have been specifically designed for short-term stays, allowing family members to be as close as possible to patients who are receiving heart or stroke care at the hospital.
Each open-plan apartment is equipped with:
• Large Double or Twin Bedroom
• Ensuite Bathroom
• Fully-fitted Kitchen
• Sitting and Dining area
• TV and DVD player
• Free Wi-Fi
• All linen provided
• Private entrance with secure entry system
Every year, we support over 100 families, some who have stayed twice in the one year. The apartments are open 365 days a year and have a 98% occupancy, making them a facility in high-demand. Families who stay at the apartments come from all over Ireland (particularly the Mid/North West) and even some from abroad.
These apartments are funded entirely by donations and fundraising events organised by Croí and community fundraisers. We could not provide these facilities without the generosity of the people of Ireland, particularly those in the West and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their incredible and continuing support.
“The Courtyard Apartments are just excellent. I was so pleased when I had a place so near the hospital. My husband is in hospital for the last 2 weeks and will be there for some time. The support from the staff is brilliant, they are so compassionate. Croí house and all it’s staff should be nominated for for a special award, they are just fantastic. Thank you all so much.”

“This was absolutely a weight off our mind as the previous night’s we booked into local hotels. It meant we were close to dad, even a direct line to his ward, we just could not believe such a wonderful facility was available. We live over a 2.5 hour commute away, and under the strain of a loved one gravely ill, the apartments and staff at Croí were, and are, a God-send. People never ever know how good a facility like Croí Apartments are until they need it themselves. Excellent.”
Kelley Leneghan, Bellmullet, Co. Mayo
“The facility was such a fantastic experience for our family, who have had the privilege of using it at such a stressful time in our lives. The staff are very approachable and helpful. The apartment is very comfortable and inviting. I would recommend to other families who are also under financial pressure and who want to be with their loved ones. Thank you.”
“My husband, John, had to undergo Triple Bypass Surgery. We live in Donegal, which is 4 hours from Galway Hospital. The Cardiac Nurse in Letterkenny Hospital informed us of the Courtyard Apartments at Croí House. What a facility, brilliant! It takes away the stress of trying to find accommodation in Galway. The staff were brilliant, especially Christine (Head of Fundraising at Croí). She made us feel so welcome and was so helpful. It’s brilliant that family members can come and stay, it’s within walking distance of the hospital and has a direct phone line. The apartment was beautiful – a home away from home! It was so nice to be able to relax after a stressful time. We will never forget their kindness.”
