As part of the Croí Third Age Project and as part of our World Heart Day/Irish Heart Month campaign, Croí partnered with pharmacies in Mayo and Roscommon in September to carry out free blood pressure checks
.
We were delighted to see over 200 participants get their blood pressure checked and of those who attended a pharmacy in September, 73% had their blood pressure checked in the last 12 months.
24% of individuals were reported to have recorded a high reading on the day they attended the pharmacy and 30% of those who had a high reading were advised to see a GP within 2 weeks or sooner. 1 individual was admitted to hospital for further investigation and is now in the care of cardiology.
We advise you to get your blood pressure checked and to ‘Own It, Check It, Sort It’!
