Croí Partners with Benecol for national cholesterol awareness campaign

Benecol Ireland is thrilled to  collaborate with Croí Heart and Stroke Charity, bringing together the spirit of community and shared knowledge. Join us a “Croí Heart Day” event on Tuesday, 8th October, from 10.30am-2.30pm at Bayview Hotel, Killybegs, Co. Donegal.

Killybegs GAA won the campaign that ran over the summer months calling for all communities to apply for their very own Heart Day.

The importance of understanding cholesterol

High cholesterol increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, and peripheral artery disease. It’s estimated that 1 in 2 adults in Ireland have elevated cholesterol levels.1 Cholesterol isn’t just a number; it’s a vital piece of our health puzzle.

The event aims to bring the community together to tackle common concerns about cholesterol. There will be expert talks, free cholesterol tests (for those that haven’t been tested in the last year) and plenty more in this half day event.

Laura O’Connell, Senior Marketing Manager for Benecol Ireland, said: “We are dedicated to prioritising heart-health for our consumers by lowering cholesterol. That’s why we’re so thrilled to continue to support Croí with the ‘Croí Heart Days” event. It’s a fantastic opportunity to provide the public with essential information about cholesterol and the importance of managing it effectively.”

Annie Costelloe, Head of Patient Community Engagement at Croí, highlighted the significance of the event: “This event is incredibly important for raising awareness about cholesterol and its impact on heart health and stroke prevention. We are very happy to be working with Benecol Ireland to bring this valuable information to the public and to offer free cholesterol testing to those who need it. The importance of knowing and understanding your numbers when it comes to your cholesterol cannot be understated and we hope that this event can bring this to the forefront of people’s minds.”
