Croí, the Heart and Stroke Charity, in collaboration with the National Institute for Prevention and Cardiovascular Health (NIPC) and Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Sligo, is proud to bring the Croí Mobile Health Hub to the ATU Sligo campus for a special three-day public cardiovascular health event this June.
From Tuesday, June 17th, to Thursday, June 19th, 2 – 5 pm daily, members of the public are invited to visit the Croí Mobile Health Hub located at ATU Sligo’s central car park, in front of the main reception, where Croí’s expert Cardiovascular Nurse Team will offer free heart health checks. These include blood pressure and cholesterol testing, pulse and stethoscope assessments, and personalised heart health guidance delivered by Croí’s multidisciplinary health professionals.
This initiative highlights a growing partnership between Croí, NIPC, ATU Sligo, the HSE, and University of Galway, NIPC’s strategic academic partner, demonstrating a shared commitment to improving cardiovascular health and disease prevention across the North-West region.
Alongside the public health checks, the hub will also support the recruitment of 400 HSE patients from the North and North-West of Ireland — all of whom have recently experienced a cardiac event and are receiving personal invitations to take part in EuroAspire VI, a pan-European research study involving 27 countries. This study aims to evaluate and enhance the quality of cardiovascular prevention in post-cardiac event patients by examining the care they received and identifying areas for future improvement. This phase of the EuroAspire VI project, taking place in the North and North-West of Ireland, is being delivered through a partnership between the HSE, ATU Sligo, NIPC and Croí.
Croí’s Mobile Health Hub is a state-of-the-art mobile clinic funded by the Joe & Helen O’Toole Charitable Trust (Tuam). It reflects Croí and NIPC’s shared mission to ensure equitable access to cardiovascular care and education in communities across Ireland.
“We are pleased to bring this important health service and research opportunity to Sligo in collaboration with such valued partners”, said Mark O’Donnell, CEO of Croí. He added, “By coming together, we’re offering a vital service to the public while also contributing to important European research that will shape the future of heart health in Ireland and beyond.”
This event is open to all adults in the community. Booking is necessary for public health checks and can be booked via the following link:
