[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”16123″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Local heart and stroke charity, Croí, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark O’Donnell to the new position of Head of Foundation and Chief Operations Officer.
Mark joins Croí with over 20 years of experience across public management functions, having worked in both Galway City and County local authorities, as well as a number of years as Director of the West Regional Authority, where he managed a range of EU co-financed projects.
He has worked in a broad range of public management functions, including capital project planning and delivery, governance and HR management.
More recently, Mark held the position of Executive Director with Galway’s award-winning spectacle theatre company, Macnas. He also serves as a non-executive director on a voluntary basis with a number of not-for-profit organisations. A graduate of NUI Galway, Mark has academic qualifications in Law, Finance, Governance and Management.
This year, Croí, which was founded in 1985, celebrates 10 years in its purpose-built Heart & Stroke Centre in Moyola Lane, Newcastle, Galway. The primary focus of Croí’s work in the community is on preventing cardiovascular disease, saving lives and promoting recovery and wellbeing through lifestyle and behaviour change.
“The work of Croí continues to develop and expand, being responsive to the changing needs of those living with, or affected by, heart disease and stroke. Since the pandemic, our support and health programmes now include online delivery, supporting thousands of people across Ireland with new services including our award-winning Heartlink West telephone support service and weekly virtual health chats and consultations. We are delighted to have Mark O’Donnell join our team where his skills, expertise and passion for community development will contribute greatly to our work”, says Neil Johnson, Chief Executive, Croí.
