Heart Health Fitness Assessment

Are you taking enough exercise?

Physical inactivity is a major risk factor for heart disease, stroke and diabetes. If you are overweight and have some risk factors (cholesterol, blood pressure, diabetes) and you are trying to improve your fitness levels, it is very important that you undergo a cardiovascular fitness assessment before you commence an exercise programme. If you are living with a long-term condition like heart disease, disabilities after stroke or have had a recent cardiac event, you might have questions about exercise. Which exercises are safe? How often should you exercise? How do you know when you should stop exercising? These are normal concerns but they shouldn’t stop you from exercising.

Our gold standard fitness assessment will address any concerns you might have about exercise. The fitness assessment is conducted by a Cardiac Physiotherapist/Physical Activity Specialist and takes approximately 45 minutes.

This assessment includes:

  • A functional capacity exercise test which measures your baseline fitness level. There is no invasive equipment used. We assess your functional capacity by performing a simple Chester Step or Incremental Walk Test.
  • Individualised goal setting and physical activity plan.
  • Top tips on how to motivate yourself to exercise.

On completion, you will receive a personal ‘exercise prescription’ which, if followed, will greatly improve your level of fitness.

A Croí Heart Health Fitness Assessment will give you motivation and confidence to kick-start your way to improved fitness, health and wellbeing.
