Monday 19th June 2023 – The 29th Croí Corrib Charity Cycle concluded with resounding success on Sunday 18th June as over 650 enthusiastic cyclists pedaled their way through the picturesque landscapes from Dangan through Connemara and finishing at Croí House, Newcastle. This year’s event was a remarkable achievement surpassing all expectations and raising vital funds to support Croí’s lifesaving work. The Croí Corrib Charity Cycle witnessed participants from all walks of life coming together to support a common goal – improving cardiovascular health.
None of this would have been possible without the generous support of the main event sponsor, Corrib Oil, who has supported this event since its inception almost thirty years ago. Croí also extends its heartfelt gratitude to the other event sponsors, Al Hayes Motors, Caragh Precision and Westside Cycles for their invaluable contributions.
One of the highlights of this year’s charity cycle was the introduction of a new and exciting route which showcased the breathtaking beauty of the Connemara region. Cyclists embarked on a memorable journey cycling through the stunning countryside and picturesque towns and villages from Dangan through Moycullen, Spiddal, Rossaveal, Maam Cross and Oughterard and finishing at Croí House in Newcastle. This year there were two route options to suit all abilities, the 107km route and a 47km route, and the new routes received a very positive response.
Christine Flanagan, Croí’s Director of Fundraising, expressed her deep appreciation for the overwhelming response and the impact it will have on the charity’s efforts. She stated, “The 29th Croi Corrib Charity Cycle has exceeded all expectations and we are incredibly grateful to all the participants, sponsors and volunteers who made it possible. The funds raised through this event will go a long way in ensuring that Croí can continue to provide crucial cardiovascular services and support to those in need. Every donation counts and enables us to make a real difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by heart disease and stroke.“
The funds raised from the 29th Croí Corrib Charity Cycle will be utilised to advance Croí’s ongoing initiatives, including community education programs, support services such as Croí Connects – Croí’s phone and online support service, patient rehabilitation, and research activities focused on cardiovascular health and stroke supports. With the help of participants and sponsors, Croí can make a tangible impact in saving lives and improving the lives of individuals affected by heart disease and stroke.
